Tóm Tắt Khoa Học

Từ Thư Viện Kinh Điển
  1. Lavandin is NOT lavender. Species hybrid with distinct safety profile from true lavender EO.
  2. Grosso is the lavandin cultivar with measured antiplatelet activity (Ballabeni 2004 IC₅₀ arachidonic acid / U46619 / collagen / ADP = 51 / 84 / 191 / 640 µg/mL). This is the empirical basis for T&Y's anticoagulant caution across all three cultivars.
  3. Oral cautions: anticoagulant medication, major surgery, peptic ulcer, hemophilia, other bleeding disorders (B216 p.655 + Box 7.1).
  4. Non-phototoxic, low sensitization at conventional dermal dilutions.
  5. Highest EO yield of the three cultivars → the cultivar most likely found in a generic "lavandin oil" supply. When a recipe calls for "lavandin" unqualified, it is most often Grosso.

Pha Chế & Hòa Hợp

Anxiolytic / sedative (mild)

Linalool (~25–38%) modulates GABA-A receptor activity and serotonergic signalling; linalyl acetate (~25–35%) deepens sedative quality. Higher camphor (6–9%) vs. L. angustifolia creates a calming-yet-toning profile rather than purely sedative.

Ref: Tisserand & Young 2014, B216 Ch.13 p.655–656; class-extrapolation from Lavandula angustifolia

Antiplatelet / anticoagulant

Grosso oil inhibits ADP- and collagen-induced platelet aggregation in vitro at measurable IC₅₀ values; the combined linalool + linalyl acetate + camphor constituent pool is the identified active fraction responsible for this Grosso-specific anticoagulant effect.

Ref: Ballabeni et al 2004 (Grosso-specific IC₅₀ data); Tisserand & Young 2014, Box 7.1 + Table 4.10B

Antispasmodic / muscle-relaxant

Linalyl acetate relaxes smooth muscle via calcium channel modulation; camphor (6–9%) adds counter-irritant analgesic activity at skeletal muscle, making Grosso more effective for muscular applications than true lavender at equivalent concentrations.

Ref: class-extrapolation from Lavandula angustifolia; Tisserand & Young 2014, B216 Ch.13 p.655–656

Anti-inflammatory (topical)

Linalool suppresses NF-κB-mediated pro-inflammatory cytokine release and inhibits cyclooxygenase activity; topical application delivers these effects to superficial skin and subcutaneous tissue (constituent-class evidence from L. angustifolia; Grosso-specific data absent).

Ref: class-extrapolation from Lavandula angustifolia (linalool constituent class)

Analgesic / counter-irritant

Camphor (6–9%) activates TRPV1 thermoreceptors, creating transient warming/cooling sensations that attenuate pain perception; increased local blood flow at the application site contributes an additional counter-irritant analgesic effect.

Ref: Tisserand & Young 2014, B216 Ch.13 (camphor constituent class)

Decongestant / mucolytic

1,8-Cineole (6–8%) stimulates mucociliary clearance and reduces secretion viscosity in upper respiratory mucosa; camphor adds mild topical bronchial counter-irritant effect when applied to chest or delivered via steam inhalation.

Ref: class-extrapolation from rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis, 1,8-cineole class); Tisserand & Young 2014, B216 Ch.13

Antimicrobial (broad-spectrum, surface)

Linalool disrupts bacterial cell membrane integrity; 1,8-cineole and camphor contribute additional antibacterial activity; the combination is active against common Gram-positive skin pathogens at sub-irritant concentrations.

Ref: class-extrapolation from Lavandula angustifolia; Tisserand & Young 2014, B216 Ch.13

Skin-soothing / vulnerary

Linalool and linalyl acetate constituent class promotes keratinocyte proliferation and attenuates inflammatory cytokines at wound margins; camphor adds mild antiseptic activity (class-evidence from L. angustifolia; Grosso wound-specific data absent).

Ref: class-extrapolation from Lavandula angustifolia (linalool + linalyl acetate constituent class)

AI-summary

Grosso-specific controlled evidence is limited to one in vitro study: Ballabeni et al (2004) demonstrated lavandin Grosso inhibits ADP- and collagen-induced platelet aggregation with measurable IC₅₀ values — the primary source for T&Y Box 7.1 anticoagulant caution. No published RCT exists for Grosso's anxiolytic, analgesic, or sedative claims. The broader lavender clinical literature (predominantly L. angustifolia — Silexan oral preparations) cannot be directly extrapolated to Grosso given materially higher camphor (6–9%) and 1,8-cineole content. HRIPT and LD₅₀ testing (Opdyke 1976) confirm non-phototoxicity and favourable acute toxicity but are not efficacy data. Sensitization cohort data (Rudzki 1976; Frosch 1995a) establishes a low sensitization signal. Overall: one in vitro mechanistic study (Ballabeni 2004) plus constituent-class extrapolation; no Grosso-specific RCT-grade evidence located.

Phương phápLiều lượngGhi chú
Diffusion3–5 drops per 100 ml water; 4–6 drops in cold-air diffuser30-min session; daytime calming and mild decongestant use; avoid near infants under 2 (camphor); for purely sedative or bedtime use, pure L. angustifolia is preferred.
Topical massage1–2% in carrier oil (adult body); 0.5% for face or sensitive areasAvoid near infant face; patch-test for sensitive skin; jojoba or sweet almond carrier recommended; suitable for muscular tension, sports recovery, and headache (temples at 0.5%).
Bath4–6 drops dispersed in 1 tsp carrier oil or unscented bath gelDisperse in carrier before adding to bath water; do not exceed 6 drops; avoid sitz bath; not for children under 3; camphor may irritate mucous membranes at higher concentrations.
Steam inhalation2–3 drops in a bowl of hot (not boiling) water; inhale 5–10 minKeep eyes closed throughout; effective for sinus congestion and fatigue; caution in asthma — camphor + cineole may provoke bronchospasm in susceptible individuals.
Warm compress3–5 drops in 500 ml warm water; soak cloth and apply to target areaApply to sore muscles or lower back; replace compress every 10 min; keep away from mucous membranes and eyes; do not apply over broken or acutely inflamed skin.
Topical skincare blend0.5–1% in unscented lotion or creamSuited to normal/oily/combination skin; mandatory patch-test for sensitive skin; avoid periorbital area and broken skin; reduce to 0.5% for reactive or sensitized skin types.

Dầu nền phù hợp

Jojoba (liquid wax)Extremely stable wax ester (near-zero oxidation) pairs well with lavandin's linalool peroxide precaution; lightweight, non-comedogenic, neutral scent; suitable for all skin types.
Sweet almond oilMedium-weight oleic/linoleic balance supports slow-work muscle massage; mild scent complements lavandin's floral-camphoraceous profile; skin-softening for dry patches in blends.
Fractionated coconut oilOdourless and colourless with rapid absorption; ideal for sports-recovery and quick-absorb topical applications; high oxidative stability reduces rancidity risk in finished blends.
Calendula-infused oilAnti-inflammatory triterpenoids synergize with lavandin's linalool/linalyl acetate skin-soothing profile; appropriate for lower-concentration sensitive or reactive skin applications.
Hemp seed oilGamma-linolenic acid provides anti-inflammatory fatty acid synergy with linalool and linalyl acetate; well-suited to mature and combination skin types in topical therapeutic blends.

Vs. Abrialis: Grosso is higher in linalyl acetate (26–38% vs 20–30%) and similar in camphor + cineole. More "balanced" aromatic profile than Abrialis's sharper cineole lead.

Toxicologically relevant constituents: camphor (6.6–12.2%) — at 3% dermal dilution = 0.20–0.37% camphor content, below Ch.14 camphor dermal ceiling of 4.5%. 1,8-Cineole = infant face-rule trigger (<2yr).

Công Dụng Trị Liệu Chi Tiết
§10 Therapeutic Uses — skin, emotional, physical, respiratory

Grosso is the commercial workhorse — most common lavandin in generic consumer products. Uses:

  • Functional / environmental: household product perfumery, mosquito repellent formulations, soap, detergent.
  • Muscular / rubefacient: camphor content supports warming-rub applications (adult only; avoid <2yr near face).
  • Anti-inflammatory (in-vitro): the Ballabeni platelet data also indicates mild anti-inflammatory action via COX/thromboxane pathway.
  • Not a first-line sedation oil (Super is closer to true lavender for that purpose, though even Super is not a true-lavender replacement in sedation contexts).
