National tree of Pakistan; sacred tree in Hindu + Ayurvedic tradition (devadāru = "wood of the gods"). Endemic to Western Himalaya: Afghanistan → Pakistan → Kashmir → India → Nepal → Bhutan at 1,500–3,200 m. Steam-distilled from heartwood.

- Hazards: None known per T&Y (B216 p.512). T&Y does NOT contraindicate pregnancy but higher atlantone content than Atlas warrants framework-cautious handling. Traditional Ayurvedic materia medica lists deodara as emmenagogue + abortifacient (historical usage at ORAL doses far exceeding aromatherapy) → folklore-caution only, not T&Y-backed for topical/inhalation aromatherapy doses.
